linear algebra.
officially now my favourite subject.
I mean, way to make a good first impression LA - well done!
Let me set the scene for you:
I woke up this morning at the ungodly hour of 9am and dragged myself out of bed and into the shower before getting into my slowly dying car (I think it makes more noise than…well…something thats incredibly noisy…) and driving through horrible 9:30am traffic on the eastern. I finally made it to uni and found a parking spot by which time it was already 10:10 and I was late to my first Linear Algebra tute.
I hurried across swanston st and into Richard Berry and then began my search for room G10 - seriously, someone needs to actually put the rooms in some sort of order in that building! After wandering around for about 5 minutes I came across an info desk that displayed a handmade sign:
“Rooms G09 and G10 are down the end of the corridor towards the yellow walls”
Obviously knowing the error of their ways the kindly maths staff had shown me the way!
I began walking towards the yellow walls and first passed room G09 - with the door slightly ajar I peered in and was greeted with the sight of what looked like a normal tute - dreary looking students sitting cramped at tables working off worksheets while a middle aged woman wearing wayyyy too much brown paces around occasionally peering over their shoulders.
I turned and discovered that I had reached G10. My room. Door closed. I began walking towards the room and as I neared I heard laughter and general cafuffle coming from inside. Confused as to how Linear Algebra could possibly be causing this amount of fun I re-checked my timetable. Yep 10am Linear Algebra G10 Richard Berry.
I slowly turned the handle on the door and stuck my head in.
The sight I was greeted with immediately made my day awesome.
A small man wearing a funny (joke funny not ugly funny) black tshirt teaches a bunch of guys how to juggle whilst the other half of the class draws with markers on the whiteboards and laughs at the students failed attempts.
“uhh…linear algebra?” I ask laughing.
“YESS! come on in :D”
The rest of the hour was filled with maths problems about chocolate, learning how to juggle (well, thanks to NICA I already could :P) and watching the small guy in black juggle up to 7 balls at once!
Not only was THAT awesome, but he was funny and actually knew his shit about linear algebra too!
Also, I love when you have a tute with people who actually try to make friends, a a guy at a table near me was saying how in one of his other tutes he asked another student at his table for some advice and the student proceeded to pull out his diary or something and quote from it “students are not in any way obliged to help other students”…wow. harsh.
Anyways, just thought I’d share how awesome my tute was this morning. Unfortunately little black tshirt guy was only filling in for some woman named Julie…or Julia…either way, she better be able to ride a unicycle or something.
