besides being one of the kindest people i know - simon d’aquino (more fondly known t’some as ‘beta’) is an amazing pianist. funnily enough, he plays drums in our band glycerine - but late one night we played an acoustic set in a small cafe, wherein we all played a solo piece to break things up a bit. beta modestly unveiled this piece he had put together and everyone sat gobsmack‘d, watching in silent wonder as his hands relentlessly slammed from key to key, like a lightning storm burninating the country side. the result was this wonderful epic, reminiscent of moby’s ‘god moving over the face of the waters’. he later recorded it for me on my mactop and this is the final result. beta wanted to give it an uplifting name.
